Fun Information: Toyotomi Hideyoshi, February 2, 1536 – September 18, 1598, was the most trusted disciple of Oda Nobunaga, a daimyo during the Sengoku period of Japanese history. He became Oda’s successor after Nobunaga’s death in 1582. Toyotomi Hideyoshi overcame all the other warlords and became the first man to unify all of Japan. Because Hideyoshi was born to a peasant family, very little is known of Hideyoshi’s past. Hideyoshi rose up from his life as a peasant to become the first ruler of a unified Japan. Hideyoshi established a caste system during his rule which lasted for the next 300 years.
