Fun Information: Intelligent, attractive, and short-tempered, Anne Bonny is most notorious for being one of only two women to be convicted of piracy during the Golden Age of Piracy. At sixteen years of age, she married a small time pirate, who became an informant for the governor. At this time, Bonny had many pirate friends and was disturbed by the fact that her husband was an informant. She deserted her husband, and ran away with the pirate captain, Calico Jack. Aboard the ship, Bonny also met another notorious female pirate, Mary Read, and developed a close relationship. In October 1720, Calico Jack was captured along with Anne Bonny and Mary Read. Calico Jack was hung and Mary Read died in prison. There are no records of Anne Bonny being executed or imprisoned after being captured and her life after prison remains a mystery until this day.
