The size is compact and they have a big personality. They make great companion dogs. Royals from the 17th and 18th century owned Pomeranians and Queen Victoria popularized them. Their coat comes in a variety of colors including: black, white, cream, merle, brown, sable, tan, blue, orange and red. The average weight of the Pom Pom is 3 - 7 pounds. The American Kennel Club recognized them in 1888.
